Alternatively, pick the tips off a few leaves of mint or whichever herb you wish to try.  Boil the kettle.  Fill up a quarter of your cup with leaves and add boiled water.  Leave it to stand for 5 minutes.  I used this method with lemon verbena, thyme, ginger, various mints, sage, wilde-als and more <3  I sell the mixes I have made and am learning the recipes of a wonderful woman who has been taught by her mom, and her mom by her mom… adding to the mix of tisanes or teas that I offer.

Different herbs have different medicinal and nutritional benefits.  Including a tisane a day or even once a week in your diet has been proven to add longevity, improved digestion, improved cardio system, improved immunity…. improved practically everything ;-)

I will be adding a few of my dried leaf mixes, self harvested, and grown at home mostly.  This process is a test of the market for me, as I would like to have some herbs grown on a larger scale at a community farm, to create employment as well as health benefits for all.  I have started a garden project at a sports club in Johannesburg, still a work in progress as I type, to grow more herbs and medicinal plants for teas or tisanes recently.

The hot blood of life’s blindfolds running through my veins

Corrupted visions of fate entwined with hopeless fear

As I shake within

cradling my quivering soul beneath me

encompassed by an energy I make little sense of

reaching deep down within toward the blindfolds we wear…

And trembling to and fro beneath this veil

one more quaking thrust forward in and out of this world

as tears come I quiver along with you

One of the products sold by Positive Re-cycle is the Bokashi system.  Bokashi is a Japanese word meaning “fermented organic matter”.  A Japanese Professor, Teruo Higa, developed a bran made up of 5 groups of effective micro organisms that have the ability to ferment food waste in an anaerobic (no oxygen) environment.

The advantages of fermenting or Bokashi – ing your food waste are a multitude of natural, organic wonders that can only enhance your ecosystem around your home.    Like a previous employer of mine, Jacques Damhuis, says “Healthy soil equals Healthy Food”.

Firstly, it can no longer rot or become rotting pulp – which is what attracts the bad bacteria, the ones we dont like e.g flies, rats (reported in some cases by one or two of my clients at work).

Secondly, it breaks down rapidly when layered in your compost or buried under the soil, making nutritious food for your plants.

Thirdly, there will be a run off liquid if you allow the process to flow.  This run off liquid is used clean as a drain cleaner, and diluted as a plant fertilizer.  NOTE there is a two week period to keep your bucket closed, you will need 2 x buckets, as when one is full and fermenting the other is being filled ;-)
